Pasta in Nha Trang almost always comes with pizza: one kitchen, one menu, and most readers will meet both on the same page. But they are two different dishes, and a kitchen that bakes a good pizza does not automatically cook good pasta. You can check that on the very restaurants listed here. So this page ranks by the pasta: which kitchens have a dish worth ordering, and which dish.

If you are eating pasta once, I would order at Alpaca, 10/1B Nguyen Thien Thuat: the gnocchi in tomato sauce is the dish people come back for, the lasagna has a proper tomato sauce, and the room sits down a lane, markedly quieter than the quarter outside. For something from the sea, La Cala on Bach Dang. The squid spaghetti is what the room orders, and it is the thing La Cala does better than the rest of its menu.

Two more are worth knowing for different reasons. Pasta de Pasta at 221 Nguyen Thien Thuat bakes a chewy base with charred edges and will do a pizza half and half, and its sauces are rich. The presentation is casual, food coming in trays rather than on plates, so it is a good meal rather than a formal dinner. Moc Moc at 12 Tran Quang Khai serves portions so large that three dishes defeat two people; its real strength is the steak rather than the pasta, and the steak is best eaten as it lands.

Among the pizza restaurants, two have pasta worth ordering in its own right. IL MIO 3 at 111 Hung Vuong: the carbonara and the spicy clam spaghetti are stronger there than the pizza. GOURMET MAI 2 at 64 Hong Bang has a salmon pasta, the most unusual dish on this page. The other way round: at ILMIO on Biet Thu and at Pizza 4P's the pizza is the stronger half, in those two rooms, order the bread.

One address sits last because it is not Italian: Bite Me at 73 Ngo Duc Ke has pasta in its name, but the dish people praise is khao soi, the northern Thai noodle. The room is largely foreign. The kitchen is slow when it is busy, so eat in rather than ordering through an app, and order the khao soi.

    Down the lane at 10/1B Nguyen Thien Thuat: air-conditioned, quiet music, far calmer than the street outside. This is the first call for a pasta dinner. The gnocchi in tomato sauce is its best seller, the lasagna has a properly balanced tomato sauce, and the sourdough with cured salmon is worth ordering if you come in the morning. The kitchen cooks European all day and has a children's menu. Alpaca is also on our café list, because in the afternoon it is a room you can sit in for hours.

    Down a lane off Bach Dang in the middle of town, with both an open-air section and an air-conditioned room. Order the squid spaghetti. It is the first thing customers mention, the sauce is rich and clean, and it is better than the rest of the menu; the fish fillet is not for everyone. The bread to start is worth taking. At lunch the room is empty, which makes it the easiest place here to linger. The listing carries no house number; ask for the lane off Bach Dang near the centre.

The pizza base is chewy with crisp charred edges, and they will do half and half if two of you disagree; the sauces are rich and the seafood is clean. The presentation is casual: food comes in trays rather than on plates, so treat it as a good meal rather than a formal dinner.

    At 12 Tran Quang Khai: cheap, and the portions are genuinely large. Three dishes will defeat two people, so order less and add. The strength is the steak rather than the pasta; the creamy macaroni is fine. If you order the steak, eat it as it lands, the way you would at any kitchen at this price. The music is well chosen and the room is quiet in the afternoon.

    On the corner at 111 Hung Vuong, with a garden and an air-conditioned room. On the pizza page it earns its place with the base; here it earns it with the pasta. The carbonara and the spicy clam spaghetti are stronger than the pizza. Skip the pumpkin soup and the garlic bread. The street is busy in the evening, so walking beats parking.

    At 64 Hong Bang, cooked to order. The dish here is the salmon pasta. The most unusual on this page, and I have not found it anywhere else in the city. The four-cheese pizza is good too if you want both. The trade is time: the kitchen starts when the order lands, so do not arrive in a hurry, and ring ahead for takeaway.

    73 Ngo Duc Ke. Pasta is in the name, but the dish people praise is the khao soi: the northern Thai curry noodle, and if you have eaten it in Chiang Mai this is the closest thing in the city. The room is largely foreign. The kitchen is slow at a busy hour, and says so itself, so eating in is easier than ordering through an app. It shuts at 19:00 and closes on Sundays.

Yes. The closest are Alpaca at 10/1B Nguyen Thien Thuat, for the lasagna and the gnocchi in tomato sauce, and La Cala on Bach Dang for the squid spaghetti. Both are kitchens cooking European all day rather than Vietnamese restaurants with a pasta section at the end of the menu.

What does a plate of pasta cost?

Roughly 100,000–300,000₫ a head at all seven. Moc Moc is the cheapest and the most generous; La Cala is the dearest, about 200,000–600,000₫ a head once you add a main.

Which one has both a pizza and a pasta worth ordering?
