"Golf in Nha Trang" covers three different kinds of place. Three real outdoor courses: Vinpearl on Hòn Tre island, KN Golf Links down at Cam Ranh, Diamond Bay to the south. Each is a full day out, and none of them publishes a green fee. Two driving ranges where you hit a bucket: Diamond Sea on the southern shore, Vĩnh Trung out at Võ Cang in the west. And four indoor simulator bays, three of them inside the city and open late.

If you have a day and want a real round, pick by the journey rather than by any score. Vinpearl Golf sits on Hòn Tre, so you cross by cable car or boat. That is an extra leg, but it is the one course here with deer on the fairway, two of them out on the turf beside a bunker. The course runs along the foot of the hills over the bay and opens 05:30–18:30, the earliest of the three. KN Golf Links at North Cam Ranh, 40 km south near the airport, is a genuine links: dunes, low scrub, a green rising out of the water. The clubhouse is very large, ringed with national flags. If you fly into Cam Ranh before heading to the city, it is the easiest of the three to fit in.

Diamond Bay Golf & Villas on Nguyễn Tất Thành to the south is the closest of the three real courses to the city. It is also the one with a problem: patches of the fairway have gone brown. The setting is still handsome, with palm lines, water, mountains behind, one bunker looking straight out to sea. It opens 06:00–20:00, the longest day of the three thanks to floodlights. But if you are particular about a surface, ask how the course is playing when you ring. Do not find out on the first tee.

The two ranges are for when you only want to hit balls for an hour. Diamond Sea Golf Driving Range on Nguyễn Tất Thành in the south is the rare one: you stand on the mat and hit straight out over the bay, islands and moored boats beyond. Floodlights let you carry on after dark. Open 06:30–20:00, with no phone number on Maps. Vĩnh Trung Golf Club at Võ Cang in the west sits among fields, with a long covered bay line and signs in Vietnamese, English and Korean. It is the only range here that posts a price: 100 balls around 150,000đ, a 500-ball card around 600,000đ, a monthly card around 2,499,000đ for 300 balls a day, open 06:00–22:00. Confirm when you ring, because boards change.

The four indoor bays are where you play on a Friday evening in the centre. GOLFZON SKY on the second floor at 30B Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, in the middle of the tourist quarter, runs GOLFZON simulators and stays open until midnight, the latest on this page. Its price board reads about 300,000đ for nine holes, 350,000đ for eighteen in the morning and 500,000đ from the afternoon on, with an hour on the range around 300,000đ in the morning. There are package rates for a four. FRIENDS SCREEN in the Hà Quang 2 estate is a Korean-run three-storey building, with Kakao's Ryan character beside the screen and an artificial putting green upstairs. Open 08:00–23:30, with food served.

The last two sit at opposite ends. Costa Golf at 32-34 Trần Phú is the only bay on the beachfront strip: Inside there is a changing area with numbered lockers, a lounge with leather sofas, and a screen showing shot data: carry, ball speed, spin, face angle. It is set up for working on a swing. Open 10:00–22:00. At the other end, 8 Golf 3D & Coffee at BT1-11 Thích Quảng Đức in Phước Long is a café with one bay: wooden tables, fruit juice, a screen. Open 06:00–22:00, the earliest of the four, and the cheapest way to hold a club for an hour if you only want to try.

The figures on this page are for reference, copied off two rate boards on site and liable to have moved. The three real courses publish nothing, so with them the only route is the phone. Ask the price before you book a slot. At the same place, morning and afternoon differ, and weekday and weekend differ again.

    On Hòn Tre island, reached by cable car or boat. It is the only one of the three real courses out on an island, and the one with a landscape of its own: fairways running along the foot of the hills, looking down over the bay and the hotel line across the water. There are two deer standing on the fairway beside a bunker, and from above at dawn you take in the whole course. The clubhouse has a high timber roof and a dining area facing the play. Open 05:30–18:30, the earliest of the three; no green fee is published, so ring.

    On Nguyễn Tất Thành to the south, about twenty minutes out. It is the real course closest to the city, and has the longest day of the three thanks to lights: 06:00–20:00. The setting is genuinely good: tall palms down the fairways, water reflecting the hills, one hole with a bunker looking straight out to sea, and a "DIAMOND BAY" sign set into a grass bank. But stretches of fairway have gone brown, so ask how the course is playing when you ring.

    On Nguyễn Tất Thành in the south, right at the water's edge. It is a range you hit out over the bay: standing on the mat you look at sea, islands and moored boats, and the ball flies towards the water. There is a roof over the mat line, wooden tables on the grass behind, and floodlights for the evening, burning over the turf well after dark. Open 06:30–20:00. Maps publishes no number, so this is a place you simply turn up to.

    Second floor at 30B Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, in the middle of the tourist quarter. It is the latest-opening bay on this page, until midnight, which makes it the after-dinner option. Trilingual signage and a "3D GOLF SCREEN ↑2F" board at the foot of the stairs; inside, a simulator bay with a wooden floor and sofas, a lounge with dining tables, and a small counter of golf gear. From the rate board on site: nine holes around 300,000đ, eighteen around 350,000đ in the morning and 500,000đ from midday on, with set rates for a four. Confirm when you book.

    In the Hà Quang 2 estate. A three-storey blue building on a corner, "FRIENDS SCREEN" running along the front, Korean-run and mostly Korean-attended: Korean lettering on the walls, a life-size Kakao Ryan beside the screen, and an artificial putting green upstairs with flags in it. Beyond the bays there are dining tables, and they serve a full grilled spread with iced tea. Open 08:00–23:30. About 3 km from the centre, so this is a taxi rather than a walk.

It is the only bay on the beachfront strip, and the most finished of the four: a stone-floored corridor, a long reception counter, a changing area with numbered lockers up to 24, a lounge of leather sofas and framed lettering on the walls. The bay itself is dark, light falling on the mat, and the screen carries full shot data: carry, ball speed, backspin, face angle. It is set up for working on a swing.     At Võ Cang in the west, out among the fields. A long tin roof over a mat line numbered to 16, green netting at the far end, tables and potted plants along the walkway. It is the only range here that posts a price: 100 balls around 150,000đ, a 500-ball card around 600,000đ, a monthly card around 2,499,000đ for 300 balls a day; The board lists 06:00–22:00 and prints in Vietnamese, English and Korean. Treat those figures as indicative, and confirm on the phone. About 8 km from the centre, the further of the two ranges.

    BT1-11 Thích Quảng Đức in Phước Long. It is a café with one 3D golf bay, not a golf centre. Outside, a tiled yard with folding chairs and a bougainvillea trellis under a "Golf 3D & Coffee" sign; inside, a wooden-floored room with wooden tables and a projected course with a mat in front of it. There is juice and coffee, so you can sit out an afternoon here. Open 06:00–22:00, the earliest of the four. Maps publishes no number; the address is enough to find it.

What does a round of golf cost in Nha Trang?

None of the three real courses publishes a green fee on Maps, because it moves with the day, the weekend, whether you are a resort guest, and the season. Each one's number is under its name at the foot of this page. Ask the price and book in the same call. The simulators do post rates: around 300,000đ for nine holes at GOLFZON SKY, and that figure is indicative.

Can we hire clubs?

The three courses and the simulator rooms all keep clubs for customers. Costa Golf, GOLFZON SKY and Friends Screen each have a rack beside the bays. How many and what sizes is worth asking beforehand, especially if you play left-handed.

One evening in the centre: where can we play?

The three indoor bays in the city: GOLFZON SKY on the second floor at 30B Nguyễn Thiện Thuật until midnight, Costa Golf at 32-34 Trần Phú until 22:00, and Friends Screen in the Hà Quang 2 estate until 23:30. All three are a short walk or taxi from the central hotels, with no need to hire transport.

How do we get to Vinpearl Golf?

The course is on Hòn Tre island, so you cross by cable car or boat. It opens 05:30–18:30, the earliest of the three courses, which makes a morning round the sensible one once the crossing is counted in.
