The best time to visit Nha Trang
The table below is built from recorded data for 2015–2024, ten years of it — not from how one trip felt. It answers one question: which month gives you what you came for.
The short answer: February to April. March is the driest month of the year at about 40 mm — a ninth of the wettest — and the heat has not peaked. January is cooler but still carries the tail of the wet season; from May the sun starts to bite.
The season to avoid is clearer than the season to choose: October to December. November is the wettest month at about 370 mm across 23 rain days — more than two thirds of the month. It is also when island trips, diving and the cable car are cancelled for weather, so if you come then, do not put any of them on your last day.
The hottest month is June, averaging about 32.8°C at the daily high. That figure sounds mild, but it is a whole-month average and Nha Trang is humid — so from May to August the 11:00–15:00 window is effectively unusable for anything outdoors. It is why every itinerary on this site pushes activity to early morning and late afternoon.

The sea and the sky do not share a season, and this is where people go wrong. The calm-water season is March to September, clearest in the morning before the wind rises. The windy season is October to December, at the same time as the rain — so for those three months both the sky and the sea are against you.
On crowds, the two peaks have nothing to do with weather: Tết, in January or February depending on the year, and the domestic summer holidays in June to August. March and April win on both counts: dry, not yet hot, and not yet busy.
Common questions
- When is the best time to visit Nha Trang?
- February to April. March is the driest month of the year at about 40 mm, and the heat has not peaked. March and April gain one more thing: they fall before the domestic summer holidays, so they are quieter too.
- Which months should we avoid?
- October to December. November brings about 370 mm across 23 days, and it is also the windy season — island tours, diving and the cable car are all frequently cancelled. If you must travel then, keep anything on the water off your final day.
- Is there anything to do in the wet season?
- Yes. The rain here usually comes as a late-afternoon downpour rather than all day, and this site keeps a list of places that do not depend on the weather — museums, mineral mud baths, indoor pools, badminton halls, cinemas. What you actually lose is the sea and the islands, not the trip.
