Things to see in Nha Trang
Nha Trang faces east, so the best of it is not the beach in front of the promenade but the islands out in the bay. On shore, the Ponagar towers and the stone cathedral. The sea is calm from March to September.
Where to eat
What Nha Trang does differently is a morning affair, sold out by nine or ten: fish noodle soup, bánh canh, jellyfish noodles. Skip the Trần Phú beachfront — the same bowl inland costs two or three times less.
Cafés in Nha Trang
Two clearly different things: sea-view places along Trần Phú, dearer but worth a whole afternoon, and garden cafés inland, cheaper and cooler. An iced milk coffee costs up to four times more at one than the other.
Where to stay
Two genuinely different holidays. A city hotel puts the beach, the food and the market within walking distance. A resort on Bãi Dài or in Cam Ranh has far emptier sand, but sits 40–50 minutes out and you will eat on site.
Things to do in Nha Trang
Most of this needs booking and half a day or more: island trips, diving, paragliding, fishing. All of it depends on the weather — rough seas cancel, so never put one on your last day.
Shopping in Nha Trang
Not a list of sights. It answers three real questions: where to buy water and food nearby, where to buy things to take home without haggling, and where to go when it rains all afternoon.
Spas and mud baths in Nha Trang
The hot mineral mud bath is Nha Trang's own, and every one of them takes half a day once travel is counted. Massage is the opposite: an hour, no appointment, clustered around the backpacker quarter.
Nightlife in Nha Trang
Evenings here are not only about eating. Rooftops and beach bars along Trần Phú, two clubs that run till nearly dawn, fifteen karaoke places — with an eightfold spread in room rates, so ask before you sit down.
Sport in Nha Trang
Mostly for people who live here rather than visitors on a three-day trip. Pitches and courts charge by the hour and everyone rings ahead to hold one, so the address and the phone number sit under each venue's name.
Getting around Nha Trang

Come between March and September
Calm water, and island boats running full schedules. The driest months are February to April. October to December is the storm season, when island tours get cancelled.
The airport is 35 km out
Cam Ranh airport sits to the south. The airport bus is 55,000₫ a head; no taxi firm publishes a rate for this run, so agree the price before you get in. Budget 40–50 minutes each way.
Eat breakfast on local time
The best fish noodle and bánh căn places sell out by 9 or 10 in the morning. Show up late and you're left with the tourist-facing spots.
Agree on the seafood price first
Seafood is sold by the kilo at prices that move daily. Have it weighed in front of you and settle the price before it hits the grill.
