Overview

If you are in Nha Trang for a few days you are almost certainly sleeping in this area: the Tran Phu hotel strip and the streets behind it. Nguyen Thien Thuat, Hung Vuong, Biet Thu, Hong Bang. The quarter is about a kilometre across, and the twenty-two places at the foot of the page are all within walking distance, ordered by street so you can choose from where you are standing.

Five sit on the Tran Phu strip itself. Sailing Club at 72–74 is the only one with chairs on the sand, open to 2am. ICED COFFEE is inside the Havana hotel at number 38, so if you are on that stretch it may be in your own building. Phê La at 24 and KATINAT at 42 are chains a few hundred metres apart; KATINAT is filed under Le Thanh Ton on the map but its door is on Tran Phu, so follow the map button. RuNam at 32–34 runs to 23:00 but is really a restaurant.

One block in is Nguyen Thien Thuat, the busiest street in the quarter, and it holds both ends of the price range. Alpaca at 10/1B cooks European and keeps a children's menu. CAFE DEP, on the corner with Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, runs to midnight across four floors and looks down on the street. Note that Nguyen Thien Thuat is one-way. Nha He at 120/8 is down a lane above a ceramics shop, quiet and full of plants. Cộng at 97 runs to 23:00. Sweet Secret at 35/97 shuts at 18:00, so do not save it for the evening. And The Cloud Bar at 163 opens only at noon and is the most expensive address on any of these café pages.

Hung Vuong holds three: P2 at number 3 is large and two-floored, easy to park at, with expensive machines on display: though the cup does not always live up to them; Mango at 9 is a few doors along; Moka at 100 is at the far end and is a restaurant. Turn into Biet Thu for Cà phê Xưởng 1925 at 23B, the only shop in the quarter that roasts its own. At 112 Hong Bang is CCCP Coffee's second branch, 6:00 to 23:00, the widest hours in the quarter if you would rather not think about closing time.

On the western edge, about fifteen minutes' walk from the sea, four are worth the extra stretch: Hoa Đồng Nội at 83 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai with a 35,000–65,000₫ board, Chốn Bình Yên at number 1 on the same street with a ninth-floor roof terrace: in Nha Trang height is the only way to see a sunset, because the city faces east, then Jungle Coffee at 8 and Trốn at 46 on Le Quy Don. The quarter is not the whole city. Four of the five roasters sit outside it, and the northern seafront run around Hòn Chồng is a different trip, about ten minutes by motorbike: see cafés in north Nha Trang.
