Overview

Hon Chong is a jumble of huge boulders in every shape, stacked from the high bank down to the waterline. It looks curious from a distance; only up close do you get the scale. Some blocks the size of a room, balanced on others in a way the eye can't quite account for.

Paired with the nearby Hon Vo, the cluster sits about 3 km northeast of the centre. Close enough to fold into a morning that also takes in Po Nagar. For a view over Nha Trang bay you can reach on foot, there is nothing else like it. Everywhere else with that sweep needs a cable car or a boat, and there's almost always a breeze.

This is natural stone with moss and sea spray on it, slippery in places, with nothing to hold. Wear shoes with grip, and stay off the outer rocks when the swell is up.

The nearest place to stay is Amiana Resort on the northern run.
