Overview

Supermarkets in Nha Trang split cleanly in two, and picking the wrong half costs an afternoon. The big ones sit on the edge of town: Lotte Mart on đường 23/10 about 2.6 km from the 2/4 square, GO! (the former Big C) 3.5 km, MM Mega Market a full 7 km. That is where you go for fresh food, for bulk, for a crate of beer, and you need a vehicle. On the same side of town there is also a small Co.op Food at 876 đường 23/10, 5.2 km out, the one entry here that is both far and small. The small ones are inside walking distance of the backpacker quarter: 4U Mart, COASTAL MART, Cham Market, K-MART, J24 Mart, all under 800 m, most open late and two of them around the clock. If you only want water, noodles, beer and sunscreen, do not order a car to Lotte.

Five big stores: Lotte Mart on đường 23/10, GO! Nha Trang at Vĩnh Điềm Trung, Lotte Mart Gold Coast in town, Co.opmart on Lê Hồng Phong and MM Mega Market. Are where Nha Trang actually shops, not where visitors are sent. They have trolleys, a fish and meat counter, freezers and a car park. The small shops in the backpacker quarter are a different animal: a couple of aisles of imports and souvenirs, there for the location rather than the range. Do not expect the same thing from both groups.

If you are staying near the water the convenient one is Lotte Mart Gold Coast: in the Gold Coast building at 01 Trần Hưng Đạo, a kilometre from the 2/4 square, open 08:30–22:00. It is a real supermarket rather than a convenience store and still walkable from the hotels, which is why it is always busier than its floor area suggests, though it is far smaller than the 23/10 store. Second most convenient is the WinMart inside Vincom Plaza Trần Phú at 78-80 Trần Phú, open from 08:00, earlier than the mall around it.

Opening times, earliest first: 4U Mart 07:00, K-MART 07:00, Lotte Mart on 23/10 and MM Mega Market 07:30, Co.opmart, GO! and WinMart 08:00, Lotte Gold Coast 08:30, COASTAL MART 09:00. Closing runs the other way: J24 Mart Hồng Bàng and Cham Market are listed as open around the clock, K-MART to 23:30, COASTAL MART to midnight, and the big stores shut at 22:00. So late at night it is the small central shops, plus the Circle K branches if the chain's 24/7 claim holds at the door you reach.

Convenience stores are their own layer, and not like either group above. Circle K is the only international-style chain I could find in Nha Trang: its own store locator returns thirteen shops, including 4C Biệt Thự and 18 Trần Phú in the visitor area, plus 45A Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, 6A Nguyễn Chánh, 19 Lê Thánh Tôn, 90 Hồng Bàng, 96B/3 Trần Phú, 6 Tháp Bà, 78 Nguyễn Đình Chiểu, 15 Trần Hữu Duyệt, and three on Hòn Tre in the VinWonders – Vinpearl Harbour complex. The chain describes itself as 24/7, but that is a claim about the chain rather than hours posted on each door — the Circle K page carries all thirteen addresses and the cross-check. Denser than Circle K is WinMart+, around fourteen sites spread through the residential areas, while Bách hoá Xanh leans towards vegetables and fresh food. As for GS25, FamilyMart, Ministop and 7-Eleven, I could not find a single Nha Trang store: GS25's own locator lists only Saigon, Đồng Nai and Cần Thơ, and 7-Eleven publishes no readable store list. If you are used to Bangkok or Saigon, with a convenience store on every corner, Nha Trang is not that.

On things to take home, a supermarket and a market answer different questions. The supermarket posts its prices, gives a receipt, vacuum-packs dried goods and requires no haggling, which is why most visitors buy rice paper, dried nem, coffee, cashews and bird's nest in one. A market is cheaper if you can haggle and know the goods: Đầm market for dried seafood and souvenirs, Hòn Rớ market for fresh fish at dawn. 4U Mart at 09 Nguyễn Thiện Thuật calls itself a supermarket and souvenir shop and sits in the middle of the quarter, making it the tidiest place to buy gifts without going to a market at all.

Two are worth knowing because they serve a particular crowd. K-MART at 124 Bạch Đằng is a Korean grocery. Instant noodles, kimchi, frozen goods. Open 07:00 to 23:30, and Nha Trang has enough Korean visitors to keep one running. J24 Mart on Hồng Bàng stocks imported goods and lists itself as open 24/7; their second branch is inside AB Central Square at 44 Trần Phú. Also under Shopping: motorbike hire. Most of the large supermarkets sit 4–6 km from the beach, so a bike makes the trip much easier.

  • LOTTE MART Nha Trang

    Open map

58 duong 23 Thang 10, west Nha Trang

    4.3 Google · 7,538 reviewsOpen 7:30 – 22:00

The biggest supermarket in the city, and the one locals mean when they say "go to Lotte". On đường 23/10 to the west, about 2.6 km from the 2/4 square, so you need a vehicle. It opens at 07:30, earlier than any mall, which makes it the answer if the rain starts early. Not to be confused with Lotte Mart Gold Coast in town: two different stores, two kilometres apart.

  • GO! Nha Trang

    Open map

Duong 19/5, Vinh Diem Trung, west Nha Trang

The hypermarket plenty of people still call Big C, inside the GO! mall in Vĩnh Điềm Trung, 3.5 km from the centre. The CGV Big C screens are in the same complex, so a trip out here can do both. Open 08:00–22:00.

  • Lotte Mart Nha Trang Gold Coast

    Open map

01 Tran Hung Dao, Nha Trang

    4.5 Google · 4,256 reviewsOpen 8:30 – 22:00

The in-town branch, under the Gold Coast building at 01 Trần Hưng Đạo: about a kilometre from the 2/4 square and walkable from most beachfront hotels. It is the nearest full supermarket to the sand, big enough for a week's shopping, close enough to carry home. The same building holds the Galaxy Cine+ screens and the MUSIC BOX booths on the 6th floor.

  • Siêu thị Co.opmart Nha Trang

    Open map

02 Le Hong Phong, south Nha Trang

    4.2 Google · 3,050 reviewsOpen 8:00 – 22:00

The domestic chain, at 02 Lê Hồng Phong, 1.65 km from the centre. Appreciably closer than Lotte or GO! and still a full-size store. Open 08:00–22:00. The best fit if you want Vietnamese groceries without the trip out: fish sauce, coffee, rice paper, fruit.

  • Co.op Food

    Open map

876 duong 23 Thang 10, west Nha Trang

    3.9 Google · 18 reviewsOpen 7:30 – 21:00

Co.op's second address in Nha Trang, and a small shop rather than a supermarket: 876 đường 23/10, 5.2 km from the centre. It is here to close a question people do ask: besides the Co.opmart on Lê Hồng Phong, does the chain have anywhere else? The answer is one more, small and far out, so if you want Co.op, go to Lê Hồng Phong.

    Open map

10 duong 23 Thang 10, west Nha Trang

    4.5 Google · 1,359 reviewsOpen 7:30 – 22:00

The furthest here: 7 km west on đường 23/10, and a wholesaler: crates, trays, bulk. It opens at 07:30. Worth it if you have rented a house and are cooking for a group; not for a couple of items.

  • Siêu thị WinMart Vincom Trần Phú

    Open map

    78-80 Tran Phu, Nha Trang

    4.1 Google · 341 reviewsOpen 8:00 – 22:00

Inside Vincom Plaza Trần Phú at 78-80 Trần Phú, 670 m from the centre and right on the beach road. It opens at 08:00, two hours before the mall around it. You can go in through the supermarket entrance. Much smaller than Lotte or Co.opmart but enough for a basket, and the closest chain supermarket to the southern beach.

  • J24 Mart — Hồng Bàng

    Open map

    92B Hong Bang, Nha Trang

    4.9 Google · 500 reviews

An import grocery on Hồng Bàng, 720 m from the centre, listed on Maps as open around the clock. One of only two places here that can sell you something at three in the morning. It is the best known of the small import shops in the centre. Their second branch is inside AB Central Square at 44 Trần Phú.

  • 4U Mart & Souvenirs

    Open map

09 Nguyen Thien Thuat, Nha Trang

    5.0 Google · 316 reviewsOpen 7:00 – 23:00

In the middle of the quarter at 09 Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, 410 m from the centre, and it calls itself a supermarket and souvenir shop, which makes it the place to buy gifts without going to a market. Opens at 07:00, the earliest here, and runs to 23:00. It is a shop with regulars in the quarter, not somewhere to do a week's shopping.

  • Cham Market

    Open map

02 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nha Trang

    5.0 Google · 259 reviews

The most central entry on this page: 70 m from the 2/4 square, on the Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai corner, and listed as open around the clock. Closer to a large convenience store than a supermarket, but the right place and the right hours for a bottle of water at midnight.

  • K-MART Nha Trang

    Open map

    124 Bach Dang, Nha Trang

    4.5 Google · 117 reviewsOpen 7:00 – 23:30

A Korean grocery at 124 Bạch Đằng, 640 m from the centre: instant noodles, kimchi, frozen goods, Korean seasonings. Maps lists 07:00–23:30, while the sign over the door reads "24/7 SERVICE": the two do not agree, so call before a late trip. It competes with nobody on this page, Nha Trang has enough Korean visitors to sustain one, and if those are the things you want, this is the only address.

  • COASTAL MART

    Open map

30c Nguyen Thien Thuat, Nha Trang

    5.0 Google · 83 reviewsOpen 9:00 – 0:00

On Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, 380 m from the centre, open 09:00 to midnight. Later than any big store but slower to open. Small, and here for its closing time: after 22:00, when Lotte and Co.opmart have gone dark, this is one of the few still trading.

  • Circle K — 4C Biệt Thự

    Open map

4C Biet Thu, P. Nha Trang (Loc Tho former), Khanh Hoa

4C Biệt Thự, which puts it inside the backpacker quarter and makes it the Circle K closest to the guesthouses there. The stock is a different kind from the other shops on this page: cold drinks, pot noodles, pastries, ice cream, hot food made at the counter, and seats to eat it at. The chain describes itself as open 24/7 but posts no hours for individual stores, so if you are counting on it at three in the morning, look in first. The address comes from Circle K's own store locator.

  • Circle K — 18 Trần Phú

    Open map

18 Tran Phu, P. Nha Trang (Loc Tho former), Khanh Hoa

18 Trần Phú, on the beach road itself, which makes it the nearest place to the sand for water and something quick without walking inland. Same chain and same range as the Biệt Thự branch. There is another on the Trần Phú strip at 96B/3. The address comes from the chain's own store locator, and it publishes no per-store hours.

  • WinMart+ — 5 Bạch Đằng

    Open map

5 Bach Dang, Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa

5 Bạch Đằng, about a kilometre from the 2/4 square. WinMart+ is the densest convenience chain in the city at roughly fourteen sites, more than Circle K, but it serves residents rather than visitors: the shelves lean towards dry goods, tins, milk and kitchen things rather than food to eat now. K-MART is on the same street at 124. The address and coordinate come from OpenStreetMap, with no Maps listing to check them against.

  • WinMart+ — 53 Vân Đồn

    Open map

53 Van Don, Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa

53 Vân Đồn, about 1.2 km from the centre, in a residential area rather than a visitor one. Same range as the Bạch Đằng branch. It is here because it shows the shape of the chain: WinMart+ sits where people in Nha Trang actually live, so if you are staying outside the backpacker quarter this is often the nearest shop. Address from OpenStreetMap.

Reference photos from sources on the internet.

Addresses come from each shop's own Google Maps listing, and the Open map button opens that shop's pin rather than running a search. 18 shops on the site have no listing we could confirm, so they have no button: the address lookup returned a different business, and a button that points at the wrong place is worse than none. A Google score appears only when Maps carries both the score and the number of reviews — a bare average cannot be weighed, so this page leaves it out. Street-food stalls change hours and close without telling anyone; call ahead if you are travelling across town.

What to buy

  • Lotte Mart on đường 23/10 is the city's biggest, open from 07:30
  • Lotte Mart Gold Coast is the closest real supermarket to the beach
  • Two shops in the quarter never close; K-MART runs to 23:30
  • Thirteen Circle K shops, three of them on Hòn Tre; no GS25 or 7-Eleven found

Practical tips

  • For water, noodles and beer use a Circle K or a small shop in the quarter, not Lotte or GO!
  • Buying gifts in a supermarket means posted prices and vacuum packing, and no haggling
  • The small shops in the quarter sell imports and gifts. They do not replace a supermarket
  • MM Mega Market is a wholesaler; a couple of items is not worth 7 km
