The trade-off is that you're on an island. Every trip into town is a cable car or boat ride. If your trip revolves around VinWonders and resort time it fits well; if you want street food and beachfront walks, stay in the city.

The thing to plan for is the trip ashore: every visit to town is a cable car or a boat, so dinner outside the resort becomes a decision rather than a whim. On the other hand VinWonders is on the same island. If the park is what your trip is about, this is the most convenient base there is.

On price: room rates in Nha Trang swing hard with the domestic calendar: Tet, the 30 April–1 May holiday and the June-to-August school break are the dearest and fill earliest, while October to December is wet and cheapest.
