Overview

Hon Tam is only a 7–10 minute boat ride from the Nha Trang pier, which makes it the gentlest island option: no full-day commitment, no long stretch of open water. The main beach sits in a sheltered cove, so the water stays calm — fine for small children and anyone who dislikes surf.

There's a resort on the island, so lunch and facilities are covered. Hon Tam's own draw is its mineral mud-bath area, usually sold as part of a package with the boat transfer.

This is the gentlest island option: a seven-to-ten-minute boat from the tourist pier, so half a day is enough and you are not on the water long. The main beach sits in a sheltered cove where the water is very calm — which is why this is the island that suits young children and anyone unused to swell, unlike the four-island tour that keeps you aboard all day.

There is a resort on the island, so lunch and facilities are easy, and there is a mineral mud bath — the only one of Nha Trang's five where you soak looking at the bay. Packages usually bundle the boat and cost less than the parts bought separately, so ask for the bundle first. Confirm the last boat before you get into the mud.

Don't miss

  • A swimming beach in a wind-sheltered cove
  • The mineral mud-bath area on the island
  • Kayaks, banana boats, jet skis
  • The closest island to shore — just a 7–10 minute crossing

Practical tips

  • A package covering the boat plus the mud bath is usually cheaper than buying each separately
  • Prices shift by package and season — confirm before you board
  • The island is small; don't block out a whole day for it
