Overview

Moonlight sits on Pham Van Dong right up against the water, aimed straight out at the Nha Trang shoreline. Unlike places where you have to pick the right table for a view, almost every seat here looks out at sea, surf and sky.

It's a more everyday place than Sailing Club: normal café prices, no loud music, and it works for a morning of laptop time or a drink after a swim.

It opens around 6:30, and that is the most useful thing about it: Nha Trang faces east, so the sun rises out of the sea and does not set into it. If you want the sun on the water you need the morning, and this is one of the few seafront cafés open early enough for it.

At 35,000–75,000₫ a drink it is the cheap end of this stretch, and there is no loud music, so it works for laptop time. One caveat on the address: this part of Pham Van Dong has several similarly named sea-view cafés and we have no exact pin for this one, so search the name on a map rather than trusting a street number.

What to order

Practical tips

  • About 4–6 km from the centre along the north coastal road

Frequently asked

Can I watch the sunrise from here?

Yes, and it is the reason to come. Nha Trang faces east so the sun rises out of the sea, and the café opens around 6:30, in time for it.

Can I work here?

Yes. There is no loud music, drinks are normally priced, and mornings are usually still empty.

How far from the centre?

About 4–6 km along the northern coast road, 10–15 minutes by motorbike or Grab.
