Overview

The oddest thing about Thai food in Nha Trang is on Võ Trứ street: Liu Thai at number 25 and Krua Thai at number 27, two Thai restaurants next door to each other. If one is full or closed, the other is a few steps away. All seven places here are Thai kitchens cooking Thai food, not Vietnamese restaurants with a few Thai dishes on the card.

Liu Thai is a chain; the other six are one-offs. Liu Thai has four branches: 25 Võ Trứ in town, 20 Phong Châu in the south, 36 Cao Văn Bé, and one more inside the VinWonders park on Hòn Tre island, which means paying to enter the park before you can eat there. The chain opened in Nha Trang in October 2024. The four branches keep different hours, so check the one you are actually going to rather than searching the name.

Four of the seven close in the afternoon, and this is where an outing most often fails. Quán Tomyum runs 11:00–13:30 and then shuts until 16:00. Liu Thai 10:00–14:00 and 17:30–22:30. Krua Thai 11:00–14:30 and 16:00–22:30. Ngò Rí 11:00–14:30 and 17:00–21:00. So at three in the afternoon only three are open: Ớt Hiểm 08:00–22:00, Sam Lor 11:00–22:00 and Phở bún Thái Hồng Phúc 10:30–22:30. This is a habit of Asian kitchens across the city rather than a Thai one: the Japanese restaurants page has four doing exactly the same.

On price this page is thin, and says so. Not one of them posts a readable board, and the only figure available is around 100,000₫ a dish at two of them, Ớt Hiểm and Ngò Rí. Both numbers come from a travel write-up rather than a board on the wall, so treat them as indicative and ask before ordering. One thing worth noting: this site's Eat section advises avoiding the Trần Phú beach strip because it costs noticeably more, and that does not show up here. Ớt Hiểm is at 66A Trần Phú on the strip itself, Ngò Rí at 70 Lê Đại Hành in town, and both come out at about 100,000₫ a dish.

On getting there: five are on the inner streets, the ones the Eat section keeps recommending. Two on Võ Trứ, then Đống Đa, Lê Đại Hành and Ngô Gia Tự. Quán Tomyum is the hardest to find: its address is unit A13, alley 37, apartment block 09 Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, meaning it sits inside a residential block in the backpacker quarter with no shopfront on the street. Remember the unit number, not just the name. Ớt Hiểm at 66A Trần Phú is the only one on the beach strip, and the only one serving from eight in the morning.

    25 Võ Trứ in Phước Tiến, open 10:00–14:00 and then 17:30–22:30, so it shuts for three and a half hours in the afternoon. This is the in-town branch of a four-branch chain: the others are at 20 Phong Châu, 36 Cao Văn Bé, and one inside the VinWonders park on Hòn Tre island. The chain opened in Nha Trang in October 2024. Krua Thai is next door at number 27, so this is a rare spot where missing one still leaves you a second of the same kind. It takes bookings and has parking. No price board could be found.

    27 Võ Trứ, right beside Liu Thai at 25. Open 11:00–14:30 and then 16:00–22:30, an afternoon break an hour and a half shorter than its neighbour's, and closing as late as anything here alongside Hồng Phúc. Arrive on Võ Trứ at three in the afternoon and both are shut; at four, Krua Thai opens first. No price board could be found.

    Open 8:00 – 22:00

    66A Trần Phú in Lộc Thọ, open 08:00–22:00 without a break. Two things set it apart: it is the only one serving from early morning, and the only one that skips the afternoon break and still runs to 22:00. That makes it the default for mid-afternoon, when four of the others are shut. A travel write-up puts it at around 100,000₫ a dish, which is that article's figure rather than a board on the wall. Being on the beach strip, it is walkable from the Trần Phú hotels.

    Open 11:00 – 22:00

    76 Đống Đa in Tân Lập, open 11:00–22:00 straight through. One of the three that skip the afternoon break, so it works for a late lunch as well as dinner. Đống Đa is an inner street rather than the beach road, and Hòn Kiến Coffee is on the same street at number 56 if you want to sit on afterwards. No price board could be found.

    70 Lê Đại Hành in Tân Lập, open 11:00–14:30 and then 17:00–21:00. It closes at 21:00, the earliest of the seven, so it is the easy one to reach just too late. A travel write-up puts it at around 100,000₫ a dish, the same as Ớt Hiểm out on the beach strip even though this one is in town. Lê Đại Hành is one of the inner streets the Eat section recommends.

    Unit A13, alley 37, block 09 Nguyễn Thiện Thuật. The hardest to find here: it is inside a residential block in the middle of the backpacker quarter with no shopfront, so remember the unit rather than the name. Open 11:00–13:30 and then 16:00–22:00, a two-and-a-half-hour afternoon gap that is the second longest here. In return it is the only Thai kitchen actually inside the quarter, so walkable from most of the guesthouses there. No price board could be found.

    Open 10:30 – 22:30

    116 Ngô Gia Tự, open 10:30–22:30 straight through, closing as late as anything here alongside Krua Thai. It leans towards noodle soups rather than a table of shared dishes, and by its own name it is the plainest of the group, though no price board could be found. Ngô Gia Tự is one of the inner streets the Eat section names, and Ding Tea and Phúc Long are on the same street if you want a drink afterwards.

Addresses come from each shop's own Google Maps listing, and the Open map button opens that shop's pin rather than running a search. 18 shops on the site have no listing we could confirm, so they have no button: the address lookup returned a different business, and a button that points at the wrong place is worse than none. A Google score appears only when Maps carries both the score and the number of reviews — a bare average cannot be weighed, so this page leaves it out. Street-food stalls change hours and close without telling anyone; call ahead if you are travelling across town.
