Overview

A child with a fever at ten at night in a strange city panics people faster than anything else on a trip. This page does not replace a doctor; it answers one question: in Nha Trang, at this hour, where do you go. The four below can all be checked, and what separates them is mostly opening hours rather than quality.

Two thresholds first. The ambulance number in Vietnam is 115. And some signs in a child do not wait until morning: difficulty breathing, a seizure, unusual drowsiness you cannot rouse them from, blue lips, a fever with a rash, or any fever at all in a baby under three months. With any of those, go straight to a hospital or call 115 rather than hunting for a clinic.

For daytime and weekends: Phòng khám Đa khoa Tín Đức, in English the Prestige International Polyclinic, at 69 Trần Quý Cáp. It is the most useful of the four for two reasons together: it opens seven days a week, 07:00–19:00, and paediatrics is on the clinic's own list of departments. Imaging is in the same building, so an X-ray does not mean moving on.

At night: Vinmec, at 42A Trần Phú, running 24/7. It is a private hospital with an international wing, considerably dearer than the rest, and that is exactly what you are buying at two in the morning: someone on duty, English spoken, and no wait for office hours. If your travel insurance does direct billing anywhere, this is usually where it works.

The other two are hospitals, and they differ on price. Khánh Hoà Provincial General Hospital at 19 Yersin is the public provincial hospital — a real paediatric department, the cheapest, and the busiest; this is where people in Nha Trang take their children. Tâm Trí at 57-59 Cao Thắng is a mid-sized private hospital, sitting between the two extremes on both price and waiting time.

Watch out

This page deliberately does not list private paediatricians' home practices. Such a list circulates online — eleven entries, and not one carries a phone number; several are not addresses at all but directions of the “corner of X and Y”, “down alley 34” kind. Those practices are real and many are good, but they are private homes, their hours follow the doctor's hospital rota, and the list is old. Carrying a feverish child to an address nobody can verify is not something this page wants to cause.

Two things to do before you need any of this: ask your hotel's front desk where they send guests with a sick child — they have done it before; and bring children's fever medicine from home, because buying the right dose in the right form at an unfamiliar pharmacy at midnight is harder than it sounds.

    The public provincial hospital, with a real paediatric department and an emergency room staffed around the clock. Cheapest of the four and busiest — this is where Nha Trang takes its own children, so budget for the wait rather than for private-hospital comfort. For anything genuinely serious, the crowd is not a reason to go elsewhere.

    A mid-sized private hospital in the south of the city, sitting between the extremes: dearer than the public hospital, cheaper than Vinmec, and quicker than the provincial queue. OpenStreetMap records outpatient hours of 07:00–11:30 and 13:00–16:30, seven days a week — a daytime option including Sunday, but not a two-in-the-morning one. The number here is the customer-care line; the hospital's main switchboard is 0258 3887 599.

Addresses come from each shop's own Google Maps listing, and the Open map button opens that shop's pin rather than running a search. 18 shops on the site have no listing we could confirm, so they have no button: the address lookup returned a different business, and a button that points at the wrong place is worse than none.
