Binh Ba and Binh Hung: tourism stopped, the tours still on sale
In June 2026 Khanh Hoa ordered a stop to organising, promoting and selling trips to Binh Ba island, Hon Chut (Binh Hung) and Mui Hoi. Plenty of operators still sell them. Here is where to go instead.
This piece has no expiry date, but it was written on the date above. Prices, opening hours and street names may have moved on; ring ahead about anything that matters.

Search for a Binh Ba lobster tour and you will find plenty on offer, with full prices, full departure dates, updated for 2026. What those pages do not mention is that in June 2026 the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism ordered companies to stop organising, promoting and brokering visits to Binh Ba island, Hon Chut (that is, Binh Hung) and Mui Hoi, in any form at all.
The reason is defence, not environmental damage or overcrowding: all three areas fall inside the security perimeter of the Cam Ranh military base. The regulation the Prime Minister issued in September 2025: Decision 04/2025/QD-TTg, states that no form of tourism may be developed at Mui Hoi, Binh Ba island or Hon Chut. The department's June document is a restatement, issued because tourism there had carried on regardless.
This site does not publish a guide to visiting Binh Ba, and that is why. Nor will we tell you what happens if you go independently. That is for the authorities, not for a travel site. What can be said is this: a tour that has been ordered to stop guarantees you nothing if the trip is turned back, and money paid for such a programme is money placed on something unreliable.
And if what you actually want is an empty beach and lobster farmed on the spot, it is not on an island. The Binh Lap peninsula is about 44 km from Nha Trang, reachable by road, with small clear bays, beaches with almost nobody on them and lobster pens moored just offshore. If you want a genuine island, Diep Son is up the coast. Mind the tide. If you want long sand and an easy drive, Bai Dai is on the airport road. The three pages below are those three places.
A note on how long this holds: the regulation is current law rather than a seasonal warning. If a later document reopens the area this post will be corrected. Until then, this is the position.
