Overview
There is something about bookshops in Nha Trang that nobody says plainly: none of them is in the backpacker quarter. The city has plenty — twelve on this page — but they fall into two groups and both are a long way from where visitors sleep. Three chain shops sit inside supermarkets to the west; seven independents are scattered through the northern and southern residential districts. If you are on Trần Phú or Nguyễn Thiện Thuật and want a book, that is a taxi ride rather than a walk.
The one that was central has closed. The Phương Nam bookshop opened at 17 Thái Nguyên, beside Nha Trang railway station, on 24 May 2008, and shut around March 2024 after sixteen years. It moved to 98-100-102 Thống Nhất and reopened around late April 2024. Open map data and several directories still carry the old address complete with opening hours, so if your search returns “17 Thái Nguyên” it is pointing at a locked door.
The city's newest bookshop opened in April this year. Fahasa launched FAHASA Tây Nha Trang on level 2 of Lotte Mart, 58 đường 23/10, on 10 April 2026, over 200 m². Fahasa has two more branches in Nha Trang, both also inside supermarkets: level 1 of GO! Nha Trang (over 300 m², the largest) and one in Co.opmart. Those three are exactly three of the supermarkets this site's supermarket page already pins.
The second group is seven independents, and they tell a different story: bookshops here serve schoolchildren rather than readers. Most are named for their neighbourhood — Vĩnh Phước, Vĩnh Nguyên, Đồng Đế, Lê Hồng Phong — and sell textbooks, stationery and school supplies more than books to read. Trung Tâm Sách Vĩnh Phước at 531 đường 2/4 is the only one whose address, hours (07:00–21:00) and phone I could all confirm; Siêu thị sách Tân Tiến at the Thống Nhất–Lê Thành Phương corner is the largest.
Among those seven is one that is not like the rest: Cửa hàng sách cũ Xuân Tiến at 93 Trần Quý Cáp, a second-hand dealer. Used books are the only kind that might still hold something out of print, and if you want second-hand English books this is worth trying before the three inside supermarkets. The directories call it large and rich in rare titles — a claim I could not check, though two independent sources give the same address and phone.
One place I give no card but mention anyway, because if it is real it is the most useful thing on this page: OpenStreetMap records a point called “Book Exchange” at the Hùng Vương–Biệt Thự corner, in the middle of the backpacker quarter. A second-hand English book exchange there is exactly what a backpacker wants. But that record carries no address, no hours, and I found no second source saying it is still open. Look in if you pass.
Do this first
Buying English books in Vietnam is a different matter from buying Vietnamese ones. Fahasa and Phương Nam both keep a foreign-language shelf, but in a provincial city it is small and leans to language textbooks, children's books and a few bestsellers. If you need a particular English title, do not count on this trip. On the other hand, bilingual children's books and Vietnamese comics are cheap and travel home far more easily than dried food.

The largest bookshop that is not inside a supermarket, and the closest of the four to the centre. The address comes from Phương Nam's own list of shops, which already uses the new ward name. Do not search the old address: the 17 Thái Nguyên branch beside the station opened on 24 May 2008 and closed around March 2024 after sixteen years — OpenStreetMap still lists it, opening hours and all.

FAHASA Tây Nha Trang — tầng 2 Lotte Mart

The city's newest bookshop: opened on 10 April 2026, over 200 m², by Fahasa's own announcement. It sits inside the Lotte Mart on đường 23/10, so it folds into a supermarket run. Being new, most directories and maps do not have it yet.

FAHASA Nha Trang — tầng 1 GO! Nha Trang
Level 1, GO! Nha Trang, đường 19/5, Vĩnh Điềm Trung, P. Tây Nha Trang, Khánh Hoà
Fahasa's largest branch here, over 300 m² by the chain's own figure — bigger than the new Lotte Mart one. It is inside the GO! centre in the Vĩnh Điềm Trung development, about seven kilometres west of the centre, so it is a stop for when you are already going that way.
Trung Tâm Sách Vĩnh Phước

The only independent of the four, across the Cái river on đường 2/4, open 07:00–21:00. Much smaller than the other three and serving the northern residential districts rather than visitors. It is here because it is the only non-chain shop whose address, hours and phone I could all confirm.

Siêu thị sách Tân Tiến

The largest of the independents, and the only one OpenStreetMap also holds. Two directories give two addresses — 202 Thống Nhất in one, 11 Lê Thành Phương in the other — which looks like a contradiction. Checking the OSM coordinate shows it is not: the point sits exactly where Thống Nhất meets Lê Thành Phương, a corner building with two frontages and two ways to write it down.

A second-hand bookshop, and therefore the most interesting card here. The three big shops sell new books to a chain's formula; a used-book dealer is the only place that might hold something out of print. The directories describe it as a large used bookshop with rare titles — a claim I could not check, though two independent directories give the same address and phone. Trung tâm sách Thống Nhất

The same Thống Nhất street as Phương Nam but at a lower number, nearer the city core. Both directories call it varied and cheaper than the chains — the sort of line that could be written about anywhere, so read it as “a neighbourhood bookshop”. Neither source carries a phone number.

Across the Cái river in Vĩnh Phước, the same district as Trung Tâm Sách Vĩnh Phước a few minutes away. Two bookshops in one northern neighbourhood is worth knowing if you are staying there; from Trần Phú both are a long way. Address and phone from directories, with no first-party source.

Nhà sách Đồng Đế

In Đồng Đế, the northern district over the Trần Phú bridge — the furthest from the visitor area of any on the mainland. Named for its neighbourhood rather than a chain, which is what it is: a shop for the few streets around it. Address and phone agree across two directories.

Nhà sách Lê Hồng Phong

The furthest south, on Lê Hồng Phong in Phước Long. The four-figure house number tells you where that is: the far end of a long road running out of the city, not the centre. Only one of the two directories carries it, which makes this the least certain card on the page — an address and a phone with nothing to check them against.

Nhà sách Vĩnh Nguyên

On Dã Tượng, the road running south towards Cầu Đá. This card names no ward, and the reason is worth saying: the two directories put it in quite different ones — Vĩnh Hoà in the north for one, Bắc Nha Trang for the other — while the shop's own name is Vĩnh Nguyên, a former ward in the south. Three pointers, three directions. The number and the street agree across both, so the page keeps those and nothing else.
Addresses come from each shop's own Google Maps listing, and the Open map button opens that shop's pin rather than running a search. 18 shops on the site have no listing we could confirm, so they have no button: the address lookup returned a different business, and a button that points at the wrong place is worse than none. A Google score appears only when Maps carries both the score and the number of reviews — a bare average cannot be weighed, so this page leaves it out. Street-food stalls change hours and close without telling anyone; call ahead if you are travelling across town.
