Overview
Sunrise stands at 12–14 Tran Phu, toward the southern end of the seafront. What makes it recognisable is the architecture: it is built in Indochine style with colonial detailing. Arches and columns rather than the glass slabs that make up most of the rest of the street.
There are 125 rooms, described by the hotel as ocean-facing throughout, most with their own balcony. The list runs Deluxe, Deluxe Ocean View, Grand Deluxe, Premium Deluxe Ocean, then Junior Suite Ocean and Executive Suite Ocean View, so you are choosing floor and floor area rather than whether you see the water.
The food and drink side is unusually full for a city hotel: The Lounge Restaurant, The Lounge Bar, the Sunrise Coffee House, a pool bar, a lobby lounge and The Sky Lounge upstairs, plus a Roman-style pool and the Sunrise Spa.
The trade is the one the whole strip shares: the beach in front is public, busy at weekends and worked by hawkers. In exchange the inland restaurants and the island-tour desks are walkable, and most of a trip needs no vehicle.
Other places to stay in the Trần Phú strip: Red Sun Nha Trang Hotel, An Vista Hotel Nha Trang, Starcity Bayfront Nha Trang. Trần Phú beach is across the road, and the cafés around here are on the tourist-quarter page.
Strong points
- Indochine architecture, unlike the glass towers around it
- 125 rooms, all listed by the hotel as ocean-facing
- A Roman-style pool, a spa and six places to eat and drink
Practical tips
- Check whether your room has a balcony. It is most, not all
- The beach out front is public, not the hotel's own
- The southern end is quieter than mid-strip, but a little further from the backpacker quarter
Frequently asked
Do all the rooms face the sea?
The hotel describes all 125 rooms as ocean-facing, most with a private balcony. What differs between categories is floor and floor area.
What is there to eat on site?
Six: The Lounge Restaurant, The Lounge Bar, the Sunrise Coffee House, a pool bar, a lobby lounge and The Sky Lounge.
How is it different from the rest of Tran Phu?
Mostly the Indochine architecture and the Roman-style pool. The rest of the strip is largely modern glass. The location, and the public-beach trade, are the same.
