Overview

Almost every Vietnamese page about Nha Trang buses is now wrong, including ones headed “updated 2026”. They list the eight city routes of the Quyết Thắng company — numbers 1 to 8, plus services to Ninh Hoà, Vạn Giã and Đại Lãnh. That network no longer runs. What runs now is VinBus electric, and it has two routes.

Route 23 is the only one that helps if you are staying in town, and it runs exactly the axis visitors use: the seafront, north to south. The northern end is Bãi Tiên, at the Ana Marina yacht harbour; the southern end is the “Vinpearl Nha Trang” stop. It is 12.5 km, 15,000₫ a ride, running 07:20 to around 23:15, every 20–30 minutes. It opened on 8 November 2024 and was the city's first electric bus route.

So one 15,000₫ ride links Hòn Chồng in the north, the 2/4 square in the middle and the cable-car station in the south.

Do this first

The last stop's name misleads people. “Vinpearl Nha Trang” is a stop ON THE MAINLAND, by the Cầu Đá cable-car station, not on the island. Its coordinate is 12.20268 / 109.21600, while the Hòn Tre shoreline only begins at longitude 109.2303. The bus drops you at the foot of the cable car; crossing to the island still needs a cable-car or boat ticket.

Route 16-2 is the airport service, 37 km, 50,000₫ a ride, one bus every 45 minutes. From the airport it runs 07:00–21:15; towards the airport, 08:30–23:00. The thing most worth knowing: it stops right outside a run of Bãi Dài resorts — The Arena, Wyndham Garden, Swandor/Aquamarine, Mövenpick, Duyên Hà, Alma, Meliá Vinpearl, Selectum Noa — so if you are staying on Bãi Dài this is the cheapest way into the city and back.

Two notes on 16-2. The airport stop is the domestic terminal, and the international terminal T2 sits about 1.5 km away in the same grounds, so an international arrival should budget a walk or a shuttle. And guests using Vinpearl, VinWonders or Vinpearl Harbour get two free rides — ask when you book, since it is a company offer rather than a ticketing rule.

What the new network no longer does is reach west and inland. The old one had services along đường 23/10, Mã Vòng, Ngã Ba Thành, Diên Khánh and Khánh Vĩnh, plus inter-district routes to Ninh Hoà, Vạn Giã and Đại Lãnh. The two VinBus routes touch none of that. If you are staying off the coastal axis there is no bus, and the answer is a taxi or a ride-hailing app.

One thing I could not settle, said out loud rather than hidden. OpenStreetMap carries a third route: 05-2, Vinpearl ↔ Hòn Xện, operator Futa Bus Lines under the name “Xe buýt Phương Trang”, running 05:00–19:00. That is not VinBus, and I could not confirm whether it still runs or the data is simply old. If you see a bus on the coastal axis that is not VinBus green, this is the likely candidate.

Where this page's facts come from, since most pages on the same subject are wrong: hours and stop lists are read from the route relations and 43 named, coordinated stops in OpenStreetMap; fares, frequency, launch date and fleet size come from VinBus's own announcement of 8 November 2024 and a Báo Khánh Hoà report of 25 December 2024. Where the two differ by a few minutes the page takes the operator's figure. Treat the fares as indicative and check as you board.

Worth knowing before you go

  • Two routes left, both VinBus electric — the old eight-route network has stopped
  • Route 23: 15,000₫ along the seafront from Ana Marina to the cable car, until about 23:15
  • Route 16-2: 50,000₫ to the airport, stopping outside eight Bãi Dài resorts
  • No route reaches the western city — off the coastal axis it is taxis only

Practical tips

  • The “Vinpearl Nha Trang” stop is on the mainland at the cable car, not on the island
  • On Bãi Dài, route 16-2 stops at the resort gate and costs a fraction of a taxi
  • Vinpearl, VinWonders and Vinpearl Harbour guests should ask about the two free rides when booking
  • Ignore the route 1–8 tables on other sites, including ones headed “updated 2026”

Does Nha Trang still have buses?

Yes, but far fewer than before. Quyết Thắng's eight city routes have stopped; in their place are two VinBus electric routes: route 23 along the seafront in town at 15,000₫, and route 16-2 out to Cam Ranh airport at 50,000₫. Pages listing routes 1 to 8 are out of date, even where the headline says 2026.

How much is the bus from Cam Ranh airport into the city?

Where do you catch the bus from the backpacker quarter?

Route 23 does not cut through the quarter; it runs along Trần Phú on its eastern edge. The nearest stops are Vincom and Ana Beach House on the seafront, a few minutes on foot from Nguyễn Thiện Thuật or Biệt Thự. Heading north, get off at the 2/4 square or Nha Trang Center; heading south, the last stop is the cable car.
